We participated to Urban Transcript Workshop

A 17-strong international tutor team of practising architects, researchers in architecture and urbanism, artists, and linguists are  leading this years’ Urban Transcripts workshop on the city. Focusing on London’s actual problematics, combining on-site visits, urban explorations, studio work and social events, the workshop is an interdisciplinary exercise in understanding the urban condition and working towards collaborative solutions.

WOW at Fronside Gardens

Foxtrot attented to Wick on Wheels (WOW) 2nd workshop at Frontside Gardens
Friday and Saturday 23rd and 24th of November 2012.

“WOW will be a running a second self build workshops with Andrew Willis at Frontside Gardens in Hackney Wick, E9. The workshop will explore ideas for possible extensions to the back of the WOW milk float using reclaimed materials found in Hackney Wick and Fish Island. We will be building small tests pieces and brainstorm ideas of how best to extend the back of the WOW truck for a number of different functions.”

Fridays workshop will be followed at 6pm by an informal evening discussion with Dr Isaac Marrero-Guillamón, co-editor with Hilary Powell of the ‘Art Of Dissent’ a collection work that has emerged in response to the arrival of the Olympics in East London. Isaac will speak about the book in the public works studio at the white building.”

The London based Foxtrot Collective takes its name from the international maritime signal flag, the definition: “I am disabled; communicate with me.” This reflects a desire to interact with the mind of others who benefit from creating common experience. The collective consists of four local creatives coming from distinct disciplines of urbanism/design/photography/art, who value the types of cross-examined knowledge arising from interdisciplinarity. Our collective built itself spontaneously as we felt the need to individually explore our own field and collectively express something about our environement.
